TAR
does not operate during most holidays or Spring Break. Some request
to test deadlines may differ from ETS regular registration deadlines.
Once you
decide to test, you notify TAMUCC of your intent by submitting your
information to TAR. TAR is TAMUCC's electronic TExES Approval/Request
System. TAR allows you to submit your information securely, online
to TAMUCC. TAR serves only as a notification system to TAMUCC- you
are NOT registering for an exam, but merely asking permission from
TAMUCC to allow you to take a certification exam(s).
Once you
have obtained permission from TAMUCC to test, TAMUCC uploads your
information to the TEA database and you will be notified so that
you can proceed with the registration process. See
Steps for Registering on the left.
TAR
shuts down at Noon on the date before the regular registration
deadline to process all existing requests. Submitting
your request to test close to registration deadlines will cause
you to incur additional test registration fees.
You
must have been admitted to Teacher Education before taking any
of your certification exams. Contact 825-3074 for more information.
If
you requested to test and were approved but did not test, your
approval should still be available. Check the ETS website and
if the test you wish to take shows, you may register.
Paper requests are no longer accepted by TAMUCC. Please visit the
link below to submit the required information so that TAMUCC can
upload your information to the TEA database.

All
communication will be via email so it is extremely important that
you type your email address accurately. Islander email address
will be used for all students enrolled at TAMUCC.
All
information must be typed accurately. Check each page before proceeding.
Submit
your request one time only. You will immediately receive an email
saying that your request is being processed and to monitor your
email.
Approvals
for all content exams will automatically be generated via email
to content area program coordinators by TAR. As soon as your transcript
has been evaluated and you are approved or denied, you will receive
an email.
Pedagogy
and Professional Responsibilities requests should not be submitted
by students who are still in their certification program until
they have completed the PPR pre-test and analysis.
Once
your information has been uploaded, you will receive an email
telling you to visit the SBEC website at http://www.sbec.state.tx.us
to set up your educator account; then to visit the ETS website
at http://www.texes.ets.org
to set up your ETS account. Next, you will register for your
exams at the ETS site. You cannot set up any of your accounts
until your information has been uploaded, so do not try to proceed
until you receive the upload email.
NOTE:
YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED UNTIL YOU PAY FOR YOUR EXAMS at the ETS
website. DO NOT REGISTER ON THE SBEC website as this is for your
actual certification. Certification costs about $75.00; certification
exams are $82.00 each. (This fee will increase to $120.00 beginning
August 11, 2008.)
