Post- BAC Student
Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES)
Students must be admitted into Teacher Education before testing.
Please note the state definition of a Post BAC:
A student who obtained an undergraduate degree from another university who is attending TAMUCC for certification coursework.
Required exams are listed on your certification plan.
Students still in their certification program must meet all pre-requisites in order to be eligible to take state certification examinations.
Content Exam
TAMUCC may allow Post BAC students as defined above to test in their content area one time without any pre-requisites if they are currently enrolled in certification courses at TAMUCC. This policy is stated on all Post BAC certification plans. Contact Mr. Scott Simmons (8252433) for information. Approval to test is required from the content area program coordinator and TAR automatically generates this approval request via email. If the student fails the content test, s/he must take course work as required by the Program Coordinator of that particular content area.
Pre-Admission Content Tests (PACT)
Significant changes to Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §227.10 (a)(3)(C) were approved by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) on October 10, 2008. The new rule, which went into effect on December 14, 2008, allows degreed individuals who have not been enrolled in an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) to take Pre-Admission Content Tests (PACT) to demonstrate content proficiency for possible admission into an EPP. This is currently an option at TAMUCC. Please visit the ETS website at www.texes.ets.org for more information.
Students submit TExES requests via TAR.
Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) Exam
All students still in their certification program must take the PPR Pre-test and conduct an analysis of score report to be eligible for the state PPR exam.
Eligibility for the PPR pretest requires currently taking or completion of EDCI 5307 Classroom Management and the Student.
Students submit TExES requests for a PPR via TAR once the PPR pretest and analysis have been completed.
