TExES Rules........A brief overview

These are the most common problems to date at pbt administrations.

CHECK YOUR TICKET UPON RECEIPT TO BE SURE THE INFORMATION IS COMPLETE AND ACCURATE.

If the building where testing is taking place is not noted, contact ETS at 1-800-205-2626.

Reprint your ticket within 24 hours of testing for updates.

ARRIVE EARLY. If you arrive late, you may not be able to test.

From the ETS website:

Important Test Center Reporting Time Policy Reminder
It is each test taker's responsibility to allow plenty of time to arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes prior to the start time, regardless of whether there is traffic congestion, road construction, bad weather, car accidents, poor directions, or any other incident that might delay arrival. If test takers do not arrive early enough prior to the test start time to allow for check in and pre-testing procedures, they will not be permitted to test and their test fees willbe forfeited. There will be no exceptions to this policy.

A VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED PICTURE ID IS MANDATORY.

If you don't have a valid, signed, picture ID, you will not be allowed to test.

Acceptable ID documents are a valid:

-Passport with photograph and signature
-Current driver's license with photograph and signature
-State identification with photograph and signature
-National identification with photograph and signature
-Militray identification with photograph and signature

The ID must have the examinee's full name, which must match the registration name. There is one exception: if an examinee has been married or divorced between registering for and taking the exam and the registration has the maiden name and the ID has the married name (or vice versa), this is acceptable if the examinee brings along a RECENT marriage license of divorce decree that was issued between the registration and actual text date. "Recent" can be interpreted to mean issued within the last six months.

The ID must be current (not expired). There is one exception: if an examinee's Texas driver's license has expired, but s/he has the Texas Department of Public Safety renewal certificate, these two together are acceptable as long as the name on the driver's license and the name on the renewal certificate are the same. If positive confirmation cannot be made, the examinee may be refused admission to the test and will forfeit the registration and test fees.

MECHANICAL PENCILS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

HIGHLIGHTERS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

CELL PHONES, PAGERS AND WATCHES THAT BEEP ARE NOT ALLOWED.

From the ETS newsletter:

Cell phones are not allowed in test centers. If a test taker inadvertently brings a cell phone into the test center, it will be collected by the test center supervisor or associate supervisor who will return it to the test taker at the end of the testing session. Test center staff and ETS will not be held responsible for lost or damaged cell phones. If a cell phone is not surrendered to the test center supervisor, this is grounds for dismissal from the test center and cancellation of the test taker's scores.

IF YOU ARE TAKING A MATH EXAM, YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO BRING YOUR OWN CALCULATOR. CHECK THE ETS WEBSITE FOR DETAILS.

DRINKS WITH SCREW ON LIDS MAY BE ALLOWED.
